New Dawn

Since moving to Duesseldorf in May, I have traveled to some neighboring areas and cities. Here's a quick look!

In May I visited a good friend of mine who studies in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. One thing that I love about Rotterdam is how biker friendly it is! I guess most of the Netherlands really is but I found Rotterdam especially tailored to bikers- bike lanes everywhere, bike street lights and the general atmosphere that bikers have the right of way over cars and even pedestrians.

 oooh Liisa ;)

The second thing I enjoyed in Rotterdam was the market. CHEAP FRESH food is always a wonderful thing- I was in heaven. The market we visited is on Afrikaanderplein (the street name) and takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you find yourself in Rotterdam on one of these days, visiting the market is a must.

We spent the weekend biking around, exploring the city, enjoying each others company and catching up.

At the beginning of August, Christoph and I took a short visit to Magdeburg, a city in the east of Germany. Here are a couple photos from the trip!

it was hot outside so naturally, I jumped in the fountain

 hitch-hiking teaches one patience,
and how to have authentic fun

Mid-August we found ourselves craving some sore legs and silence from the busy city so Christoph and I decided to hitch hike our way to the nearest hiking oasis. We spent a day in Siebengebirge (Seven Mountains), 90 km south of home. Below are a few photos.
